Another Halloween over. Another year of anticipation that trick-or-treaters will come and Halloween parties down. Another year of being the only house on the street with decorations. Another year of disappointments. There is always next year.
This is the second Halloween that we have spent in this house. And we had a whopping 11 kids come trick-or-treating. It is definitely more than the 1 kid we had last year. I don’t understand it. We live in a nice neighborhood with lighted streets but then again, there was only 4 houses with their lights on on our whole street. I can’t blame them though, if I was a kid, I wouldn’t walk down a street only to hit four houses. I would want to maximize my time out to get the most candy possible.
My Wife and I even tried something different this year to get trick-or-treaters. We made a fire in our fire pit and sat out front hoping that would draw people down our street. She even carved out a pumpkin with a little goblin on it and we had scary music playing. No luck. I blame it on all the “Scrooges” that live on our street. I can’t really blame them though. We are one of the younger couples in the neighborhood. I guess as people get older, they lose the kid in them.

The adults are surfing the bars in hopes of winning the prize of cash for the most “scary” or unique costume. The children are left with the sitter who has been told to stay in the house because there are so many “bad” people out there in the darkness. When Halloween first started it was only for adults. Guess history is repeating its self.
