We finished up our certifications this week. What a joke. I was even counseled for my nonchalant attitude. Apparently, someone on the team told on me for saying that certs do not matter because I am deploying anyways. I guess that takes the stress out of the “tests”. The best part is that everything was based on a “real world” scenario that was designed by MSG X and a civilian who have never even deployed to combat. And then they yell at me because their scenarios are bullshit and I do not take them seriously. They even threatened not to deploy me because my heart isn’t in it. What I didn’t find out till the next day was that the civilian is actually worried about losing his 6 figure paycheck and MSG X getting fired AGAIN if something goes wrong downrange with me and then I start bad mouthing their training.
One thing I hate about the army is that the higher ranking you are, the smarter you are. Never mind listening to your guys that have actually been downrange. That could be my biggest problem with MSG X. After last deployment, everyone said the same thing and made the same recommendations. But it involved MSG X staying downrange with us. In July he was all for it, but now that we are leaving in 4 weeks, he changed his mind. Apparently he has more important stuff that needs to be taken care of back at his house. I think he is just a coward and a shitty leader, but what do I know. He outranks me which makes him smarter than me.
But, the bottom line is that I only have to deal with MSG X for another 4 weeks and then I won’t have to see his coward ass for 8 months. And that is the best part of deploying.
